Strong Steps program: Stepwise approach to identification and prevention of osteoporotic fracture

By 2022, it is estimated that 6.2 million Australians older than 50 years of age will have osteoporosis or osteopenia, placing them at high risk of minimal trauma fracture. This program aims to support identification, evaluation and treatment of patients at high risk of osteoporotic fracture.

While osteoporosis is a common condition affecting over 1 million Australians, there is persisting under-investigation and under-treatment of patients at risk of fracture. This activity explores the timely identification and effective management of osteoporosis, utilising latest recommendations from the 2021 Position Statement on the Management of Osteoporosis.
