    Activity aim

This clinical audit seeks to improve vaccination protection for RSV in older people, with a specific focus on patients who are at increased risk of RSV-related complications due to comorbid conditions they may have. It will involve the review of five patients either through active recall or as part of a routine health check, at which point the GP will work through a practice checklist with recommendations relevant to the individual patient.

Why take part in this program?

    • Conduct follow-up consultations with 5 patients over 60 years of age, who have not received RSV vaccination in the past two years, and/or the need for revaccination has not been established.
    • Earn 6.5 CPD hours upon completion.

    Inclusion criteria

Patients who are eligible for this clinical audit are adults who are:

    • Adults aged 60 years or older
    • Have not received RSV vaccination in the past two years, and/or the need for revaccination has not been established
    • Have no absolute contraindications to RSV vaccination (anaphylaxis after a previous dose of the same RSV vaccine, or anaphylaxis after any component of an RSV vaccine)

    How long should it take?

The program has been designed to take approximately 4-6 weeks to complete. This includes patient recall from your practice, patient consult and program evaluation.

    Tips to recruit patients

    Recruitment may occur:

    • Opportunistically as you consult appropriate patients as part of usual care.
