Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is an increasingly prevalent condition in Australia, and GPs can play a key role in its identification and management through early diagnosis and action. This module explores how to identify risk factors and make a diagnosis of MCI, and outlines the effective development of treatment plans for MCI in primary care.

On completion of this educational activity participants will be able to:
  • Identify differences between normal and declining brain health in the ageing population.
  • Understand risk factors, comorbidities and pre-existing conditions that may contribute to declining brain health.
  • Accurately diagnose mild cognitive impairment (MCI) based on the latest guideline recommendations.
  • Understand the need for early action to address MCI.
  • Implement a treatment plan to effectively manage MCI in the general practice setting.
  • Access and utilise tools and resources for optimising outcomes in people with MCI.
This activity is sponsored by Nutricia.
