Eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) is a rare immune-mediated disease, characterised clinically by symptoms related to oesophageal dysfunction and histologically by eosinophil-predominant inflammation. This module aims to increase GPs’ understanding of EoE so as to better enable identification of adults with suspected EoE and referral for timely gastroenterologist assessment.
On completion of this educational activity participants will be able to:- Identify adult patients with symptoms of oesophageal dysfunction, and those that may have eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE), and refer for timely gastroenterologist assessment.
- Outline the differentiating features between EoE and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.
- Describe current treatment options for adults with EoE.
- Implement strategies to optimise long-term management and support of adult patients with EoE.
