Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a highly symptomatic condition with physical and emotional impacts that greatly reduce quality of life and increase mortality risk.1 Cardiovascular events are common in people with COPD, and are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in the weeks following an acute COPD exacerbation.2,3

Presented by GP Conjoint A/Prof Chee Khoo and Conjoint A/Prof Belinda Cochrane, this webinar explores the link between COPD and CV risk, reviews latest recommendations for COPD management, and describes the actions you can take to reduce the risk of exacerbations in patients with COPD.

Date: Wednesday, 17 April 2024
7:00pm - 8:30pm AEST
6:30pm - 8:00pm ACST
5:00pm - 6:30pm AWST

  • Diagnose COPD using current Australian guidelines.
  • Discuss how morbidity and mortality risk are substantially heightened following an acute COPD exacerbation, with increased risk of a cardiovascular events.
  • Develop strategies for recognising and reducing the incidence of exacerbations in COPD.
  • Develop strategies to screen for other associated co-morbidities in patients with COPD.
  • Implement an effective and comprehensive management plan for patients with COPD.
