Epilepsy is a complex condition requiring ongoing care, and GPs must be aware of the long-term needs of the patient and the role of the multidisciplinary team in ensuring the patient maintains their quality of life. This ALM provides comprehensive education on the initial assessment, identification and management of epilepsy, as well as the management of complex cases of epilepsy involving specific needs, and includes a patient review exercise to support specialist referral.

By completing this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • Implement a systematic approach to assess patients with a suspected first seizure or confirmed epilepsy who are experiencing on-treatment seizures
  • Select relevant patient information, based on patients’ personal circumstances, to support patients with suspected or confirmed epilepsy
  • Evaluate key considerations for ongoing monitoring and support of patients with suspected or confirmed epilepsy
  • Create a quality specialist referral for a patient with recent onset or complex epilepsy.

This activity is sponsored by UCB.
