Cow's milk allergy - Key features in Diagnosis and Management

Cow's Milk Allergy is the most common food allergy, affecting somewhere between 2% and 6% of infants under 2 years of age.

The mean age of onset is reported as between 3 months and 5 months. Allergic reactions can occur within minutes or up to several days after having cow's milk or other dairy products.

At the completion of this learning activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe the common presentation of food allergy in children
  • State the key diagnostic features of food allergy including testing
  • Discuss management options in cow's milk allergy
  • Ensure the child with cow's milk allergy has the full potential to thrive
  • Create a system to safely manage the children with potentially fatal cow's milk allergy
