Eye problems in children is a topic that many of us feel uncomfortable with and many of us feel happier referring these patients on immediately. However, a basic understanding of paediatric eye problems will enable us to be more proactive in seeking out and preventing visual impairment in our youngest patients.

The learning objectives are:

• To effectively screen for childhood vision problems.
• To indicate the management and treatment of amblyopia.
• To appropriately diagnose strabismus and other childhood eye conditions.
